Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior official said the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
